Cagri Gursel is exceptionally positioned as the Founding Partner of Gain Capital, where his leadership and deep expertise span over 12 years in M&A, project finance, and renewable energy investments. Before establishing Gain Capital, Cagri played pivotal roles at prestigious firms like Barclays, Agentis Capital, and Aktif Bank, orchestrating significant investments and financing strategies across Europe and the Middle East, particularly in the energy transition sector.
His notable achievements include advising on the sale of over 1GW of solar PV and onshore wind projects across Romania, Greece, Hungary, and Poland; structuring €58M in sub-debt financing for a battery energy storage portfolio in Europe; and leading the acquisition financing of hybridized biomass assets. Cagri also successfully managed the stake sale of an operational geothermal plant and facilitated over $100M in project finance loans for various renewable projects in Turkey.
Earlier in his career, Cagri honed his skills in power trading at Enerjisa/E.On, leading the firm’s cross-border trading activities in Southeastern Europe.
Academically distinguished, he holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bosphorus University and two master's degrees in finance: one from the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with merit, and another from Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with distinction.
